ALL POWER IS WITHIN YOU, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING” ~ Swami Vivekananda

Netherlands: The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to unite.

There are many streams of yoga. Yoga was born in pre-Vedic India.
Amongst these also Mantra Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Laya Yoga and Raja Yoga have been considered very important. Swami Vivekananda presented these distinctive traditions of yoga to the world in a practical manner.

The true benefit of yoga will be proved when, like Swami Vivekananda used, as a body-mind-brain ability/talent technique, the intellectual capacity available from it can be used in the field of education to gain knowledge.

Swami Vivekananda presented these distinctive traditions of yoga to the world in a practical manner. He made aware of the spirit of devotion towards spirituality and yoga among the general public and especially the youth through yoga methods like Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga etc.

Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June. International events are organized every year to make people around the world aware of yoga and its benefits.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Yoga Day. The UN has dedicated this International Day to this universal cause. It was supported by various yoga practitioners and spiritual leaders from around the world.

This day is very important because on this day yoga is practised in different places not only in India but all over the world.

International Yoga Day is celebrated in India, the USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East, China, Australia and some other countries in South Asia.

Today, yoga is practised in various ways in Western countries, including India, and is adopted to maintain good physical and mental health.

By doing yoga regularly, we can keep our body and mind in balance and become one with nature. It is considered to be an important type of exercise, which helps in controlling the balance and diet of the body, respiratory function as well as physical health. It also helps in relieving stress and anxiety and controlling your body and mind to achieve better health. We all came to realize that yoga is a science of living a healthy life during the Corona epidemic.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, practitioners from more than 100 countries have planned events around this date. Courtesy of the Indian Embassy in the Netherlands, Yoga Day will be celebrated online on Saturday, June 21, directly from India House.

Also, NGOs, private yoga coaching classes groups, students etc are seen taking a special interest in promoting the day by organizing yoga activities on this special day to raise awareness.

The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”.

We all know that due to covid 19 it is difficult for all of us to celebrate this day by joining any outdoor yoga activities. so let’s do yoga at home with your family.

Let’s commit to follow the 2021 theme of International Yoga Day and Make our life Beautiful on the day of this event!!
