Bandra East lawmaker Zeeshan Siddique has put to rest swirling rumors of him and his father Baba Siddique exiting the Congress, affirming his steadfast loyalty to the party. Dismissing speculations, Zeeshan clarified that his recent meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was misinterpreted, emphasizing their familial ties with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

At 31, Zeeshan Siddique stands as the youngest MLA in the Maharashtra assembly and holds the reins of the Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress. Showering accolades on Ajit Pawar, Zeeshan described him as a mentor and source of support during challenging times, highlighting the deputy chief minister’s dedication and leadership qualities.

The conjecture about the Siddique duo’s departure from the Congress emerged following the party’s recent setback, marked by Milind Deora’s shift to the Shiv Sena under Eknath Shinde’s leadership. This development unfolded amidst the Congress’ ongoing struggle to rejuvenate its presence in Mumbai, where it was originally established in 1885, compounded by internal leadership issues.

Acknowledging discussions within political circles, Congress leaders disclosed awareness of the Siddique family’s dialogue with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, hinting at a potential move by February 10. However, Zeeshan emphasized his personal stance, reiterating his allegiance to the Congress while refraining from commenting on his father’s intentions.

Baba Siddique, a three-term MLA from Vandre West assembly constituency, echoed his son’s sentiments, confirming the meeting with Ajit Pawar but refuting any immediate plans to depart from the Congress. Reflecting on Ajit Pawar’s qualities, Baba Siddique echoed Zeeshan’s admiration for the deputy chief minister’s work ethic and commitment to public service.

In light of these statements, it appears that the Siddique family remains entrenched within the Congress fold, underscoring their enduring commitment to the party despite external speculations and conjectures.
