The recent deaths of Indian students in the United States have sparked concerns and raised questions about safety and security for international students. The tragic incidents have left families devastated and students worried about their well-being abroad.

The latest case involves Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old Indian student who had recently completed his MBA in the US. Saini’s life was cut short in a horrifying attack by Julian Faulkner, a homeless drug addict, on January 16. Saini had shown kindness by offering assistance to Faulkner, including chips, water, coke, and a jacket. However, when Saini asked Faulkner to leave the store where he worked, the situation escalated, leading to Faulkner fatally attacking him with a hammer.

Another distressing incident involved Neel Acharya, a computer science major at Purdue University, who went missing on January 28. His body was later discovered on the university campus, leaving his family and friends in shock. Neel’s mother, Goury Acharya, took to social media to seek help in locating her missing son. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, adding to the distress and uncertainty surrounding the situation.

These tragic events have highlighted the vulnerability of international students living in the US and the challenges they face, including issues of safety and security. The incidents have also underscored the need for greater awareness and support for international students, as well as enhanced measures to ensure their well-being and protection while studying abroad.

As investigations into these cases continue, there is a pressing need for authorities to address the underlying factors contributing to such tragedies and to take proactive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. In the meantime, the Indian community in the US and abroad mourns the loss of these promising young individuals and stands in solidarity with their families during this difficult time.
