Police have prepared a ‘blueprint’ to invade Abujmarh – the hilly forest area spread over 1,500 square miles – to target senior Naxal leaders
New Delhi: If official sources are to be believed, then, Indian security agencies are set to launch a major ‘surgical strike’ on the reported operational command center of Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.
Based on the inputs provided by Intelligence agencies, the Chhattisgarh Police are set to carry out one of the biggest anti-Naxal operations in the state, in the coming days.
According to sources at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the state police forces have prepared plans to enter Abujmarh and target senior Naxal leaders. Officers are currently lining tactical plans to move into the hilly forest area, spread over 1,500 square miles, in the state of Chhattisgarh.
“A few days back, the blueprint for the operation was prepared in a closed-door meeting that went on for nearly three hours. All top police officers of the state and even some Intel officers from the centre were present in the meeting,” an officer informed TheNews21.
He added that the following day, Director General of Police (DGP) DM Awasthi reached Bastar on 13 January and held a meeting of officials in the office of Narayanpur Superintendent (SP). The DGP called for a swift action on the Naxal camps operating in Abujmarh.
“All the SPs of the division were asked to conduct joint operations. The work is now been reviewed, alongside the weapons and other equipment meant for the operation,” said the officer, adding that senior police officers on 15 January, inspected the operational readiness of the Dantewada and Jagdalpur police districts in Karli police lines.
Two IEDs Seized in Kanker
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers have once again foiled nefarious attempts of the Naxals in the highly sensitive Chhote Bethiya police station region of Kanker district. The BSF team was out on a search operation. During the search operation, there was intelligence input that Naxals had planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at two places. The soldiers conducted a search operation in the area, and the IEDs were located. A team was then put into action to disable the IEDs.
Naxals brutally kill a youth
On the night of 12 January, a Naxal unit murdered a youth and threw his body in a ravine along the Punsar road in the Gangaloor police station area. As per a police officer, the body was brutally dismembered. “It is possible that they might have suspected him to be a police informer. Looking at the method of killing, it seems that they wanted to send out a message,” the officer claimed.
