Mumbai: After having quarantined the Bihar cadre IPS officer, a emboldened Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Kishori Pednekar has taken on Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sounding a warning of sorts to the countrys premier investigating agency if it planned to come down to Mumbai in connection with the investigation into the alleged suicide case of Sushant Singh Rajput. “There is no escape to this procedure be it CBI or any other agency coming from outside will have to go in quarantine for 14 days”, quipped Pednekar.

The BMC Mayor has once again made it clear about its firm decision on abiding the rules and regulations in the time of pandemic.

Speaking to thenews21 on the issue, she said, “Anyone coming from outside will have to abide the rules and regulations set by Maharashtra government and BMC during the pandemic. There is no escape to this procedure be it CBI or any other agency coming from out have to go in quarantine for 14 days.”

BMC issued an order on Friday, which said that it would quarantine all passengers coming to Mumbai from other states without exception. The order signed by Additional Municipal Commissioner P Velrasu. In order said, “Government officials seeking exemption from the quarantine would need to write to the BMC two days before their travel to Mumbai and give full details of their work and elaborate the importance of the work and also justify the request for home quarantine exemption,” the order said.

Recently, senior IPS officer from Bihar, Vinay Tiwari who landed at Mumbai airport on August 2 to lead the Special Investigation Team (SIT) sent by Bihar police to investigate the alleged suicide case of Sushant Singh Rajput was stamped on his hand and put under quarantine at SRPF Guest House in Goregaon East.

Regarding putting IPS Vinay Tiwari in quarantine since the night of August 2 till August 7, the IPS officer had quipped “it was not me who was quarantined but the investigation was quarantined and as soon as the case was transferred to CBI, I received a message that I am free to go to Bihar”.

The Tussle between the Bihar Police and Maharashtra police was clearly seen, when senior IPS of Bihar cadre was forcibly quarantined. The Bihar government wanted to investigate the case on its own alleging that the Mumbai Police was not doing a thorough job. However, the death occurred in Mumbai and the Bihar Police had no jurisdiction. Hence BMC also intervened and put Tiwari under quarantine.-By Vikas Nag
