Mumbai: In a tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Dhananjayrao Ramchandra Gadgil, the Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) is proud to announce its flagship event, the 19th Dr. D. R. Gadgil Memorial Lecture. Scheduled for October 15, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Main Auditorium, Y. B. Chavan Centre in Nariman Point, Mumbai, this event will focus on the critical theme of “India’s Roadmap to a Developed Economy by 2047.”
The Dr. D. R. Gadgil Memorial Lecture has been a distinguished platform for over 18 years, fostering insightful discussions on pressing socio-economic issues. This year, MEDC will welcome Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Subramanian is renowned for his expertise in formulating policies that tackle contemporary socio-economic challenges, and his vision will provide valuable perspectives on India’s developmental aspirations.
Mr. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, MD & CEO of the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd., will set the tone for the lecture, bringing his extensive knowledge in market dynamics and economic development to the forefront of the discussions.
Over the years, the lecture has featured prominent thought leaders, including Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, Mr. Arun Jaitley, and Dr. Raghuram Rajan, among others.
