Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued a stern warning on Saturday, threatening fines for delays in completing building projects. Speaking at a lottery event for 5,311 flats under the Konkan division of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), Shinde emphasized the importance of timely project completion with high quality. He asserted that contractors and builders failing to meet deadlines would face penalties.

Shinde lamented the prolonged duration of some projects, which often require rework. He suggested rewarding builders who complete MHADA projects on time with additional incentives, stressing the importance of adhering to deadlines.

The lottery for 5,311 houses of Konkan MHADA was conducted on Saturday at Gadkari Rangayatan in Thane. Congratulating the winners, Shinde praised MHADA’s transparent lottery system, stating that trust in MHADA is increasing due to its impartial operation.

Speaking about the need for housing, Shinde highlighted the efforts of the state and central governments, particularly under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He assured that those initially overlooked for housing would have another opportunity, mentioning plans to provide homes for mill workers.

Shinde also emphasized the Maharashtra government’s focus on infrastructure development, citing projects like the Atal Setu as transformative endeavors. He reassured attendees that efforts to combat traffic congestion are underway, underscoring Maharashtra’s role in India’s economic growth.

The lottery event saw the presence of various dignitaries, including Housing Minister Atul Save, BJP MLA Sanjay Kelkar, and MHADA Vice-President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal.
