In a startling revelation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde disclosed in an interview with the Times of India that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government had prepared plans to jail senior leaders of the BJP. Shinde revealed that there was a conspiracy to arrest Devendra Fadnavis, Ashish Shelar, Girish Mahajan, and Pravin Darekar in false cases. Additionally, there was a plan to lure some BJP MLAs before the 2024 elections, Eknath Shinde also disclosed.
“I was treated very humiliatingly in the Mavia government. Aditya Thackeray had a lot of interference in my account. It created havoc in the Rajya Sabha candidate selection by keeping me aside. During the Mahavikas Aghadi government, Uddhav Thackeray has left me forever. I was never allowed to work independently during my urban development account. There was always interference from the Thackeray family. I was never allowed to work independently. Aditya Thackeray was always interfering. He used to attend the meetings of Nagar Vikas, MMRDA, CIDCO, and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. Before leaving the Shiv Sena, Thackeray’s plan was to take away the urban development account from me. Even though I was threatened by Naxalites, they did not give me Z+ security,” Shinde said.
Uddhav Thackeray gave an offer to Eknath Shinde while going to Surat. Talking about the fact that Eknath Shinde was offered the post of Chief Minister before going to Surat, Eknath Shinde said, “I called Uddhav Thackeray from a tea stall in Vasai while going to Surat. At that time, Uddhav Thackeray offered me the post of Chief Minister. But I said time has passed. After that, Uddhav Thackeray called the BJP leaders in Delhi and said that they will unite again, why are they going with Eknath Shinde, but by then, too much water had passed under the bridge.”
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde denied that NCP chief Sharad Pawar proposed Uddhav Thackeray’s name for the post of Chief Minister. On the contrary, Thackeray had told him that he would make him Chief Minister, he said. When the Mahavikas Aghadi government was being formed, I got more police force in anticipation of being made Chief Minister. But later Sharad Pawar told me that people from Thackeray had recommended Uddhav Thackeray’s name for the post of Chief Minister. It was he who requested Sharad Pawar to propose Uddhav Thackeray’s name.
“Uddhav Thackeray’s dream was to become Chief Minister. The formation of Mahavikas Aghadi was a premeditated conspiracy. Instead of being a kingmaker like his father, Uddhav wanted to be a king himself,” Shinde said. Some new things have also come to light in the interview of the Chief Minister in an English newspaper. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “Shiv Sena will contest 16 seats, three will be from Mumbai. That means Shiv Sena will get five of the remaining six seats.”
The Chief Minister has also responded to the secret explosion of Uddhav Thakre’s making Aditya the Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray said in an interview, “Devend Fadnavis had given me a word that I will make Aditya the Chief Minister in 2019,” Uddhav Thackeray claimed. Talking about this, Eknath Shinde said, “He thought that I will be an obstacle in the way of Aditya becoming the Chief Minister. But they were in a hurry to make Aditya.”
Talking about the denial of the ticket to sitting Sena MP Bhavna Gawli, Eknath Shinde said that the change of candidate was an internal matter of the party. “There is no question of BJP asking us to change candidates. Shiv Sena intends to contest 16 seats in the state, Mumbai has three seats.”
