In a significant reshuffle of the seating arrangement in the Delhi Assembly, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been shifted to seat number 41, while the newly appointed Chief Minister Atishi now occupies the first seat in the house. This change follows Atishi’s recent swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Previously, Atishi had been assigned seat number 19.

Kejriwal, who has held the Chief Minister’s post since entering politics, traditionally sat in the first seat. However, following his resignation from the role, he now sits in front of the Speaker as a regular Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). This marks the first time Kejriwal has been allocated a seat other than number one in the Assembly.

The reallocation extends beyond Kejriwal and Atishi, affecting several other ministers and key figures in the Delhi Assembly. Saurabh Bharadwaj, who previously held seat number eight, now occupies the second seat, reflecting his seniority in the government. Kailash Gahlot, another prominent minister, has also had his seat adjusted in the new arrangement.

Mukesh Ahlawat, the latest minister to join the Delhi cabinet, has been assigned seat number 14. Meanwhile, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who once sat in the front row, has been moved to seat number 41, now sharing a row with Arvind Kejriwal.

Vijender Gupta, the Leader of the Opposition, has also seen his seat change. Previously in seat number 94, he now sits at seat number 100. This adjustment underscores the comprehensive nature of the new seating plan, which aims to reflect the updated hierarchy and responsibilities within the Assembly.

The reshuffle comes as Atishi steps into her new role, following a period of political turbulence in the capital. As Chief Minister, she faces the challenge of leading Delhi amidst a backdrop of significant changes in both the Assembly and the city’s governance.

This new seating arrangement symbolizes a shift in the political dynamics of Delhi, with Atishi’s leadership marking a new chapter for the state’s administration.
