Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has voiced dissatisfaction with the way the opposition’s INDIA alliance is operating, stating that the coalition appears to mobilise only during election periods while remaining largely inactive at other times. Speaking in Mumbai, Raut suggested that the bloc needs continuous engagement rather than seasonal coordination.

Call for Year-Round Political Engagement

While addressing a press conference, Raut argued that limiting the alliance’s role to parliamentary protests or debates is insufficient, especially when opposition members often face disruptions in the House. Referring to senior leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, he said the opposition must also reach out directly to the public to raise concerns on pressing matters. According to him, farmers’ issues, unemployment, inflation and law-and-order challenges require sustained joint action beyond legislative sessions.

Leadership Speculation Downplayed

Addressing recent discussions about who should lead the alliance, Raut dismissed suggestions naming specific chief ministers as speculative. He maintained that leadership decisions should be made collectively at a formal meeting of all partners rather than through public commentary.

Push for Stronger Coordination

Raut emphasized the need for regular communication among alliance members, saying coordination should not depend solely on election schedules. He added that if the bloc aims to present itself as a credible national alternative, it must operate as a permanent political platform with structured planning and visible joint initiatives.
