The Congress party has unveiled its second list of candidates comprising 43 names for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Among the notable names mentioned in the list are Nakul Nath, son of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Vaibhav Gehlot, son of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, KC Venugopal announced the release of the second list, stating, “We have already announced our first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Today, we are going to announce the second list. Yesterday, CEC met and cleared the list of around 43 names from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan.”

According to Venugopal, Gaurav Gogoi will contest from Assam’s Jorhat, Nakul Nath from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, Rahul Kaswa from Rajasthan’s Churu, and Vaibhav Gehlot from Jalore.

He further elaborated on the demographics of the candidates, revealing, “In this list, out of the 43 candidates, 10 are General candidates, 13 OBC candidates, 10 SC candidates, 9 ST candidates, and 1 Muslim candidate.”

Nakul Nath, currently serving as the sitting MP from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, had previously declared his intention to contest from his family stronghold. However, his remarks sparked rumors of a potential exit from the Congress party, with speculation suggesting connections with the BJP.

Despite the speculation, Nakul Nath’s inclusion in the Congress’s candidate list reaffirms his commitment to the party and dispels any rumors of a shift in allegiance. With the release of the second list, the Congress aims to strengthen its electoral prospects and solidify its presence in key constituencies ahead of the upcoming polls.
