Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta on Friday said Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari is a “Marathi manoos at heart” amid a political row over his remarks on Shivaji Maharaj.
Amruta has backed Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and said, “In the course of speaking Marathi, what he said was interpreted differently.”
The Governor’s remark has created a stir in the state and opposition is targeting the BJP government.
Thackeray recalled that the Governor had insulted Maharashtra’s ideals including Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule and it has been condemned by one and all. ‘’Now he is playing with the identity of Maharashtra,’’ he claimed.
‘’Maharashtra industries were shifted to Gujarat. Cabinet of Maharashtra, yesterday I heard that the cabinet meeting is postponed as an exceptional situation, what was the exceptional situation yesterday? The exceptional situation is that many of his people went to campaign in Gujarat. That is, they do not regret that Maharashtra has been exposed, they do not regret that the identity of Maharashtra, the deity is being insulted.,’’ said Thackeray.
‘’After the Mindhe government (Shinde Fadnavis government) assumed power in Maharashtra, the state is constantly being abused. Shiv Raya is being insulted by the Governor. Everyone should unite against it. The Centre should call back the Governor. People who do not even get a place in the old age homes are being appointed as Governors,’’ he noted.
