819-bed COVID hospital is to be ready within ten days to Bhiwandi villagers

Thane: Bhiwandi taluka administration which was until now struggling to cope with an alarming surge in the number of COVID-19 positive patients in the rural belt will now be at ease as an 819-bed COVID-19 hospital is to be ready within ten days for Bhiwandi rural villagers.

Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar visited for inspection of the hospital on Thursday and lauded Tehsildar Shashikant Gaikwad and Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Mohan Nadalkar of Bhiwandi for a good facility installation in the hospital, informed an official of taluka administration.

The health officer of Bhiwandi taluka administration said that 819-bed COVID hospital will be set up at Bapgaon village in Bhiwandi taluka under Sawad gram panchayat. The hospital will be set up in about 2.30 lakh square feet area.

Shashikant Gaikwad, Tehsildar of Bhiwandi said, “Out of 819-bed, 80 beds will be ICU and remaining will be oxygen’s beds”.

On Saturday, the total number of corona positive cases in Bhiwandi taluka has gone to 92 patients. Out of 92 positive cases, 32 were from Kharbaon village, 10 from Diva-Anjur, 12 from Padgha village, 6 from Kon village, 9 from Aangaon, 2 from Chimbipada, 16 from Dabhad village, and 5 from Vajreshwari. 

As of now the total corona positive cases has reached to 4680, of which 900 patients were active and under still the treatment in the hospital, 3,631 patients have discharged so far while 149 died due to corona disease, informed a Block Development Officer (BDO), Pradeep Ghorpade of Bhiwandi taluka administration 

Health officer of Bhiwandi taluka administration said that 828 patients were placed under the institutional quarantine centre while 22,416 patients have an in-home quarantine. Total of 253 areas are under the containment zone. 

Dr Pandurang Chavare, Medical officer, (Additional charge) of Bhiwandi taluka speaking to Thenews21, owing to the unlocking and Ganpati festival, the majority of people had stepped out of their homes. During the Ganpati festival, the several devotees had called their relatives to visit their home to take the blessing of Lord Ganesha. We have increased the testing capacity of corona in the areas which causes the positive patient’s number to also come much before us. –By Narendra Gupta
