Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary on Friday received a serious death threat from an unidentified caller, triggering an immediate police investigation across states.
Threat Call and WhatsApp Message
According to officials, the threat was delivered through a phone call and WhatsApp messages to his personal assistant Vishvendra Shah. The caller allegedly identified himself as “Ismail” and claimed to be from Murshidabad.
Sources revealed that the individual appeared to have access to the minister’s official tour plan, raising major security concerns.
Police Action Underway
A formal complaint has been registered with the Delhi Police, which has initiated an investigation. Simultaneously, the West Bengal Police is also probing the matter to trace the origin of the threat and verify the caller’s identity.
Security agencies are treating the case seriously due to the sensitive nature of the information reportedly accessed by the caller.
Who Is Jayant Chaudhary?
Jayant Chaudhary is a key political figure and currently serves as a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the central government. He is also the National President of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, which has a strong influence in western Uttar Pradesh.
Recent Remarks on Farmers
Earlier this week, Chaudhary had addressed farmers, urging them to adopt organised approaches to strengthen their economic position. He highlighted the role of farmer producer organisations (FPOs) in helping farmers access better markets and expand their businesses.
He also emphasised the importance of awareness regarding government schemes like the Kisan Credit Card, stating that collective efforts could significantly improve rural economies.
