Srinagar: Continuing with its public outreach program, the Handwara Police on Tuesday held a Police Public meeting with a view to strengthen the Police-Public relations in the district. Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police (SP) Handwara, Dr. G.V Sundeep Chakravarthy (IPS) said that such meetings are conducted to solicit the suggestions and support for better policing and would be conducted in the future as well.
The meeting was held at Police Station Villgam and was chaired by SP Handwara Dr. G.V Sundeep Chakravarthy (IPS) besides SDPO Handwara Fariz Hussain JKPS, SHO Villgam Inspector Iftikhar Ahmad and other officers and officials were also present in the meeting.
Referring to the grievances highlighted by the participants, he said that these issues will be taken up with the concerned authorities for immediate redressal and added that police will provide its legal support as and when required for the betterment of the society accordingly.
SP Handwara also sought the cooperation of people in sharing the information and identifying the drug peddlers and other miscreants so that a peaceful environment can be created in the area to which the participants assured their full support. The meeting concluded with appreciation from the members of the public.The SP also thanked the people for participating in the meeting and providing valuable suggestions.
Large number of prominent people, traders, Masjid committees, Sumo association members, BDCs, Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area participated in the meeting and highlighted various issues in the area. The participants also applauded the role of police in Covid19 Pandemic and peaceful elections. The participants also urged that counselling classes for aspiring students of UPSC or JKPSC be held in the area to create an energy among the students and to make them aware about the pattern of these exams.
