Satta Bazar’s favours BJP in West Bengal assembly polls

Bookies predicts saffron party emerge as singe largest party

Mumbai: Unofficially the Satta Bazar has tipped its bets in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in ongoing West Bengal state assembly polls. The bookies from Satta Bazar in Mumbai have predicted the BJP could win anywhere between 191 to 199 seats whereas the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will win anywhere between 85 to 93 seats only.

In a recent election opinion poll conducted by Times Now-C Voter, it was predicted that Mamata Banerjee was all set to return as CM for the third consecutive term. The opinion polls predicted that the TMC will get a comfortable majority of 157 seats in the 294-member assembly of West Bengal. Any party will need at least 148 members to prove a simple majority in the WB state assembly.

In the outgoing WB assembly, TMC has 211 members whereas the BJP has just three members. The Times Now-C Voter opinion poll has also predicted that the BJP will increase its tally by about 103 seats as it is expected to win 107 seats. But again, the BJP will fall short of the majority mark.

According to opinion polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress is expected to win around 146 to 162 seats. That means, the TMC will lose around 49 to 65 seats than the 2016 assembly polls.

The bookies have different opinions on the election opinion polls conducted by various agencies. According to bookies, BJP will emerge as a single largest party in West Bengal and will form a stable government without taking support of any other political party.

The Mumbai Satta Bazar has predicted that the BJP is winning in WB. Whereas Phalodi Satta Bazar, which is considered as the most accurate in India has also predicted BJP to form the government in WB.

According to bookies, the TMC which has 214 members in the WB assembly, could win seats between 85 to 93, around 129 seats less than the existing presence in the Lower House. The Congress and the Left parties combined could bag seats between 13 to 20.

Here is a look at the betting rates given by the bookies:

Party                           Seats predicted         Rate

Congress + Left.        13 to 20                     0.29 paise

TMC.                            85 to 93.                  0.13 paise

BJP.                              191-199.                   0.8 paise

(Lower the rate means higher the chances of winning)

The West Bengal assembly polls will be held in eight phases. The election has already started from March 27 and will end on April 29. The counting votes and result will be declared on May 2. Of total eight phases of polls, two have been completed.

Union Home minister Amit Shah has claimed that the saffron party will win 200 seats and will form the government. Mamata Banerjee too has claimed to retain power for the third term.
