Patna witnessed fresh protests on Tuesday as students intensified their agitation over the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. The protesters are demanding cancellation of the exam, alleging a paper leak and other irregularities.
Students who had been protesting at Gardanibagh moved towards Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s residence as part of their campaign. At JP Golambar, some protesters broke through police barricades while attempting to continue their march.
The protest was organised by the Chhatra-Yuva Sangharsh Morcha, which has been supporting a 15-point demand list raised by students. The organisation had appealed to students and job aspirants from across Bihar to join the demonstration.
Students demand cancellation of 70th BPSC exam
The protesters have alleged that the 70th BPSC examination was affected by serious irregularities and a possible question paper leak. They have been demanding action from both the Bihar government and the BPSC.
The agitation has continued for several days at the Gardanibagh protest site, with students seeking greater transparency in the recruitment examination process.
Bihar government forms five-member committee
Amid the growing protest, the Bihar government announced the formation of a five-member committee to examine ways to make competitive examinations more transparent and prevent irregularities.
The committee will be headed by a retired judge and will look into measures aimed at improving the examination system.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also announced a new Student Support Camp to address students’ complaints and suggestions.
The camps will reportedly be organised every month on the fourth Tuesday at educational institutions. The government has also announced a Student Support Portal and Helpline 1100 through which students can submit complaints and track their status.
Choudhary said the government wants to ensure that students’ concerns are heard and addressed.
BPSC TRE-4 recruitment also announced
The government has also moved ahead with the notification for BPSC TRE-4 teacher recruitment amid the ongoing controversy surrounding competitive examinations in the state.
The latest developments come as student protests continue in Patna, with demonstrators pressing the government to address their concerns over the 70th BPSC examination.
