New Delhi: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar clarified on Sunday that his trip to New Delhi was a routine visit. Speaking to reporters before leaving for the national capital, he emphasized that such visits are part of regular engagements and not tied to any political speculation.

“I regularly go to New Delhi whenever there is work. Sometimes to meet the high command, for court-related matters, or even for rest and shopping,” Shivakumar said. He added that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would provide official updates regarding any potential Cabinet reshuffle. The Chief Minister had earlier indicated that any changes to the Cabinet are likely after November, when the government completes two-and-a-half years in office.

Shivakumar also highlighted Bengaluru’s ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly the expansion of the metro rail network. “The Centre contributes only 13 to 14 per cent of the total project cost. The rest is funded by the state. Yet, we are committed to completing it efficiently,” he said, underscoring the state government’s dedication to urban development.

On engaging with civic stakeholders, Shivakumar emphasized the importance of dialogue. “I met with Mohandas Pai and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw to seek their opinions. We cannot disregard constructive criticism. They are an integral part of Bengaluru and have provided valuable suggestions, which we aim to implement within our democratic and bureaucratic framework. As taxpayers, their voices matter,” he said.
