Mira-Bhayandar commissioner Chandrakant Dange assures residents
Mumbai: Suburban Mira Bhayander in Thane district is fast turning into COVID-19 epicenter from few days as the positive cases are soaring up. However, Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation commissioner Chandrakant Dange is leaving no stone unturned to safeguard the twin cities, as per the reports there are 47 coronavirus positive patients till now. Speaking with thenews21.com MBMC commissioner said, “Currently there are 13 containment zones in Mira Bhayander and it is going to be sealed”.
He further said that an order has been released from MBMC for home delivery of vegetables and fruits, “An order has been given to all the societies to purchase fruit and vegetable directly from farmers or Vashi market. This will be a home delivery under the epidemic act”.
People are facing problem for purchasing vegetable and fruits, as the market remains open for only three days a week. As per the order issued by MBMC, every week vegetable market will be opened for only three days and same with the meat shops, however, milk and medical stores will continue as it is.
There were some serious allegations from MLA Geeta Jain on MBMC for not taking proper care of quarantine patients, she raised questions of missing doctors and no proper food, clearing the air, Dange said, “It was a misunderstanding and all things are clear know, there are doctors present 24 hours and food is being prepared there itself”.
Many rickshaw drivers in the city are facing problems as everything is shut, the rickshaw union met MBMC commissioner for a solution and Dange has promised to provide food to the rickshaw drivers and their families, he said, “We are determined to take care of the fact that no needy person will starve in the city during this public crisis.”-By Salman Khan
