MVA hits turbulence again Farhan Azmi ridicules Uddhav, wows to build Babri Mosque at Ayodhya

Mumbai: The partners in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ruling in Maharashtra appear to have resolved to give their leader sleepless nights. After Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders, it is Samajwadi Party that has taken the baton ahead. Son of SP leader Abu Azmi, Farhan Azmi in a programme to oppose NRC and CAA in Mumbai has ridiculed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Azmi had even threatened to build Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, if Thackeray goes there to support Ram Temple.

It is even before Thackeray could officially announce his Ayodhya visit on completion of 100 days in office. Shiv Sena MP in Rajya Sabha and editor of party mouthpiece Saamana, Sanjay Raut, in a tweet last week, had said that CM Thackeray would visit Ayodhya on completion of 100 days in office. The tweet had caught many eyes in the political circles of the state. Speaking at a programme organised by his organisation, Farhan Azmi went on saying that the ‘Tiger’ – Shiv Sena – has lost its impact.

“Why doesn’t CM Thackeray go to Siddhivinayak instead? What is the need to go to Ayodhya? Consider it threat if you want, I make it clear that if he goes to Ayodhya to support Ram Temple, we will walk to the city and build Babri Mosque there,” Azmi said.

It has become a routine affair over the last two months, since the tripod government came into power, that some or the other leader from MVA takes a dig at the government. And Shiv Sena leaders are left to defend the party and the leader. After the controversial statement by Farhan Azmi, Shiv Sena cadre finds itself at cross road.

“The situation is not unfolding as we expected. The allies are criticising the government and our leader ever since it took charge. It is very frustrating to see the miserable condition of the party and our leader despite being head of the government. Irony is that, Sharad Pawar, who spearheaded the campaign to form MVA government, is conveniently tight lipped on all such controversies,” said a veteran Shiv Sena supporter who did not wish to be named.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has promptly jumped on the issue and started blowing it. “This is the most incompetent government the state has ever got. There is virtually no coordination among the allies of this tripod government. CM Thackeray must show courage to snub people like Farhan Azmi who is trying to wreck controversies over Ram Temple. The issue has been finally settled by none other than the Supreme Court of the country and any such statement should be considered as contempt of Supreme Court,” said Madhav Bhandari, cheif spokesperson, BJP.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Dr Manisha Kayande said, “Farhan Azmi is a non entity for us. There is no need to take him seriously. The government is working absolutely fine.”

Meanwhile, SP leader and MLA Abu Azmi has distanced himself from the statements by his son Farhan. Speaking to media, Abu Azmi who is out of India, said, “Farhan is not member of SP. Whatever he said, is his personal opinion.”

No matter how much the Shiv Sena leaders try, the situation appears to be difficult to be salvaged, given the growing unrest among Shiv Sena cadres across the state.
