Handwara Police bust LeT terror module, arrest 4 terrorists, recover huge arms & ammunitions

Handwara: In a joint anti-terror operation launched in the wee hours of Friday morning, Handwara Police along with 21Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 30 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 Battalion of the CRPF busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module and arrested 4 terrorists and 3 of their terror associates, besides recovering huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Following specific input regarding the presence of militants in village Gund Chogal a search operation was launched. During search operation 4 terrorists of LeT outfit have been apprehended and 3 AK-47, 8 AK 47 Magazines, 332 AK rounds, 12 Hand Grenades, 3 Pistol, 6 Pistol Magazines, 24 Pistol Rounds, letter Pad of LeT outfit  have been recovered from their possession.

The apprehended 4 LeT terrorists named are – Parvaiz Ahmad Chopan S/o Ab Rashid Chopan R/o Shartpora Langate, Mudasir Ahmad Pandith S/o Ab Rehman R/o Zargar Mohalla Langate, Mohd Rafi Sheikh S/o Mohd Ahsan Sheikh R/o Eidgah Mohallla Langate, Burhan Mushtaq Wani S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Tulwari Langate.

The joint operation was carried out on the basis of specific information regarding the activities of ANEs, the houses of – Azad Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Razak R/o Shalpora Langate, Altaf Baba S/o Salam Din R/o Rafiabad Babagund, Irshad Ahmad R/o Selikoot Uri – were raided last night and during search Arms and Ammunition, letter pads of proscribed militant outfit LeT were recovered, and the three associates were arrested.

During questioning it came to light that all the persons were working with militant outfit LeT and were motivating the youth of the area by providing them arms and ammunitions to join militancy. They further disclosed that they have provided arms and ammunitions to some youth who joined militant ranks recently and are operating with the jurisdiction of Handwara. In this case a FIR under UAP Act has been registered in Handwara police station.
