Mumbai: Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Chandrakant Patil’s statement that despite a probable alliance with Shiv Sena in the future, the BJP would not contest next assembly elections in alliance with it, lead to rumours that both party may have a reunion. However,  former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has put an end to all such speculations emphatically stating that there is no question of any reunion with Shiv Sena.

On Tuesday, Devendra Fadnavis speaking to newspersons at the Vidhan Bhavan stated that BJP president J P Nadda has given a clear direction that the BJP will contest the next elections in the state on its own strength. So the question of forming an alliance with any other party does not arise.

As far as Chandrakant Patil’s statement is concerned, he said in response to a question from newspersons that even if there is an alliance with Shiv Sena, the election will not be fought together.

“We have not received any proposal from the Shiv Sena for an alliance, nor have we sent any proposal to the Shiv Sena,” he said. In these circumstances there is no room for any other question.
