Difference between recovered and active cases of COVID-19 is nearly one lakh: Govt

Government today said that the difference between recovered and active cases of COVID-19 is nearly one lakh. Union Health Ministry said, due to collective, graded, pre-emptive and pro-active steps taken by Centre along with the States and Union territories for prevention, the total number of recovered COVID-19 cases has fast outgrown the number of active cases.

The recovered cases have exceeded the active cases by 98 thousand 493. The Ministry said, the number of active cases stands at over one lakh 97 thousand and the number of cured cases is around two lakh 96 thousand. The recovery rate of COVID patients has reached 58.13 per cent.

The top five states in terms of absolute number of COVID -19 recovered cases are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The top five states in terms of recovery rate are Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Tripura, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh.

India now has one thousand 26 diagnostic labs dedicated to COVID-19. This includes 741 in the government sector and 285 private labs. The samples tested in the last 24 hours have further increased to two lakh 20 thousand 479. The total number of samples tested is around 80 lakh.
