COVID patients mop hospital floors, use stinky toilets at Poddar as CM busy in image makeover

Confronted, Yuvraj swings into action as his Worli constituency becomes epicenter of Corona.

Mumbai: Like Nero playing the fiddle as Rome burnt, today even as the situation in Maharashtra is rapidly deteriorating with steep rise in number of Corona positive patients in Mumbai, the ruling Shiv Sena led tripod alliance is busy in image building exercise. In a shocking incident, it has now come to light that suspected Corona patients quarantined at Poddar Hospital in Worli are being forced to sweep their wards and bear with filthy, stinky toilets.

Worli, the assembly constituency of Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray is fast becoming epicenter of Corona, while he is missing in action from the scene. As the hapless patients are suffering and fighting their battle of survival, CM Uddhav Thackeray and his party is busy in image building.

While CM Uddhav Thackeray and his PR machinery is busy in image building to hide his short comings in decision making and gross failures, innocent people in Mumbai and state continue to reel under grave threat to their lives.

The latest example of the inefficiency of the tripod government is the pathetic conditions faced by suspected Corona patients quarantined at Poddar Hospital in Worli. The videos of the hospital in possession of TheNews21, expose the tall claims of the government that the patients have been put under ‘able medical care’.

In one of the video, a lady patient can be seen sweeping the quarantine ward she has been put up with other patients. While other video exposes the unclean and unhygienic toilets. “It is better we die of Corona at our homes, rather than in such a filthy place,” says the lady in video. If this is the condition of hospitals in Mumbai, one can imagine the situation in rural parts of the state.

Ironically, the PR machinery of the state government and Shiv Sena has been busy pushing only those incidents which suit its narrative. The government is hiding vital information and important developments from the people as well as media. Instead of sharing the news about how one was pleased when the CM called her ‘Tai’ (Sister) and how a farmer was relieved when CM personally called to get his fruit truck released, the office of the Chief Minister and the Shiv Sena PR machinery should also tell the true situation in Mumbai and the state.

Leader of Oppositon Devendra Fadnavis said, “The situation in Mumbai is going out of hand with each passing day. The city and state needs special attention, especially the hospitals and health care staff. We request the government with folded hands to look into these issues.”

It was only after TheNews21 confronted Aditya Thackeray, that the civic authorities swung into action and shifted the patients to another place. Ironically, the minister was busy in his PR for image building of his father and apparently did not even have time to think about his voters. Just like Nero playing the fiddle as Rome burnt.

The state government, especially the media relations machinery of Shiv Sena, leaders like Varun Sardesai and Aditya Thackeray has been hostile when it comes to sharing the information and taking responsibility. As the patients were going through difficulties at Poddar Hospital, both Aditya Thackeray and Varun Sardesai preferred not to respond to the text messages sent to them to know their reaction.
