Shiv Sena may lose saffron party tag: BJP may rake this issue in coming days

Mumbai: A few Muslim leaders in ruling alliance have demanded that lockdown should be relaxed for the celebration of Eid-ul-Adah better known as Bakri-Eid and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) finds an opportunity in this issue. They want to consolidate their position as the only saffron party in Maharashtra.

“We are saying since long that after demise of Balasaheb Thackeray Shiv Sena is not a Hindutva (saffron) party, now that Bakri-Eid issue is there, everybody will be able to see the true colour of Shiv Sena”, said BJP MLA Yogesh Sagar. He further added, “For Ganeshotsav (Ganpati festival) celebration there are so many strict conditions laid by government, now let us see what they offer to Muslim brothers. Strict rules have been laid down for Ganeshotsav congregations”.

Yogesh Sagar further, “Permission for public slaughter should not be given. Right now corona situation in state is going from bad to worse. Under such condition Eid celebration cannot be allowed. Markaz issue is fresh. State government couldn’t trace the Tablighi people from Markaz and that spread corona in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Now again they want to repeat the mistake. I want to ask only one thing that the strict restrictions are imposed in Ganpati Utsav to be applied only to Hindus in the state? All strictures will be imposed on Hindus in Maharashtra? What message CM Uddhav Thackeray wants to send to people of Maharashtra? I want to warn government against any such decision. Such a foolish decision will bring in a lot of people on the road. Government would be responsible for the consequences of such permission, don’t forget Markaz lesson.”

Meanwhile, at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss celebration of Bakri Eid with Muslim ministers the Chief Minister appealed to the Muslim Brotherhood to celebrate Bakri Eid with caution and simplicity like Wari and Ganeshotsav. The Lalbaugcha Raja mandal decided to undertake a commendable initiative to celebrate Arogyautsav this year without any installation. Crowding should not be allowed if the corona virus is to be prevented. I will discuss on this issue with “Mulla-Maulavi” if needed, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Measures should be taken to find out where the meat shops are located or to order online. In the last 4 months all the festivals have been celebrated at home by all sections of the society. Therefore, Muslims should also offer Eid prayers at home. People should avoid crowds and any action that will increase the infection. The responsibility of the leaders is to show the direction to the society. Therefore, we should appeal to the people to take care, said Uddhav Thackeray.
