Anand Teltumbde and Vernon Gonsalves file petition in Bombay High Court to be tested for COVID -19.
Mumbai: The duo, Teltumbde and Gonsalves in their petition asked High Court to allow them for COVID test as they were in closed contact with Dr P Varavara Rao who is tested positive for Corona.
The jail inmates of 81-year Dr P Varavara Rao who is tested positive for Corona, his fellow jail inmates and activist Anand Teltumbade and Vernon Gonsalves have filed a petition and have requested the Bombay High Court that they too need to go under COVID test.
he petition was filed on Friday by the two , Teltumbade and Gonsalves and they prayed that they were in close contact with Dr Rao hence there is an urgent need to conduct swab tests for them.
The petition read that Gonsalves was assigned on the duty of being paid by Dr Rao . He was assisting the fellow inmate Dr Rao for about 3 to 4 weeks in his daily routine. Thus petitioners stated that they were in close proximity with Dr Rao and are in high risk category being senior citizens. And they should be allowed to go under a swab test as other inmates may be infected.
The petition prays says that the court may decide whether they can be shifted to hospital for COVID-19 test and later can be kept in isolation for the safety of others.
