A village without basic facilities since ages as it does not fall on the road to development!

Srinagar: A village named BUDNAMLI (SHAKA) Kupwara which is 45 km away from Kupwara is unheard of by many even in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. So what one may ask there are several such villages, but this village in Kupwara is known more as an ancient village which has no basic facilities like no Mobile network system, no Electricity and other basic amenities since time immemorial.

While talking to locals of Budnamli area of Kupwara they said that no one sees this glaring indifference from the administration. “We face a lot of problems here like there is no Mobile network, no Electricity, no Health care facility, no proper water supply, no proper roads and other civic amenities”, remarked one local.

Locals added that they were at least 20 years back from other villages of Kupwara in terms of development. They said that a year ago Public Works Department (PWD) tried to put up electric lines but the work is incomplete still. Locals also added that here is no doctor available for this village. Once a quarter a doctor or paramedical employees come to the village for checkup rounds. But no one tells him or her as to why they cannot come regularly for on duty.

Another local remarked that other countries are ready to launch 5G internet service but the village does not even have basic Mobile network and electricity. The locals said that they have never seen these facilities since when they might have been introduced. “The people from the administration tell us that if we want to contact persons outside the village we have to travel 25 km just to call those who are gone out of the village. We have to go Chokibal Kupwara for talking to those who are out of village. And we have to pay at least Rs 500 fare just to talk to the other person”, said another local.

The villagers of Budnamli area have appealed to LT Governor, and District administration to solve these problems as early as possible so that the village gets connected to the rest of the valley and the rest of the country.
