1,615 fighters lay down arms after Bodo peace accord

Following the Bodo peace accord, 1,615 members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) laid down arms at a ceremony in Guwahati on Thursday.

The move comes in the wake of the January 27 tripartite Bodo peace accord between the Union government, Assam government and the NDFB, in New Delhi.

The event took place in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal, state minister Hemant Biswa Sarma and top police officials, at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital auditorium here.

The peace accord signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Sonowal, provides for the economic and political development of Bodos without affecting the territorial integrity of Assam.-IANS News
